The Android Oreo 8.0 has been rolled out on Nexus and Pixel smartphones

The much awaited Android Oreo 8.0 which was released on the 22nd of August has now been rolled out on a select few Nexus and Pixel smart phones. According to GSM Arena, the update has been made available on the following devices: Nexus 5X, Nexus Player, Nexus 6P, Pixel C, Pixel XL and the Pixel smart phones.

The Android Oreo 8.0 update can be installed with the help of an OTA zip file for those people who do not want to wait for the update to be bought to their smart phones. Those users who have enlisted for the Android Beta Program are going to receive this update on their devices.

It is going to be a while before the Android 8.0 update is rolled out on other devices. This update will bring about improvements in the battery life, along with improving the security of the device. This will be done with the help of Google Play Protect. The update is also going to introduce dot notifications and the picture-in-picture mode which will allow the users to multi task. Oreo also has a much talked about feature, Project Treble, which aims at helping the makers of hand sets.

It has also been confirmed that the Android Oreo 8.0 update is going to be made available on the OnePlus 3, OnePlus 3T and the OnePlus 5 later on in the year. HTC confirmed on Twitterthat HTC U11, HTC U Ultra, and HTC 10 mobile phones will be getting Android O update. HMD Global has also confirmed that this update will be made available on the Nokia 3, 5 and 6 devices. Xiaomi Redmi and Mi devices will also receive the update later on in the year. However, the exact date when the update is going to be rolled out on these remaining smart phones is not known to the public. All one can do is wait for an official announcement.
